  5. In response to your request for a chili recipe:
  6. This recipe comes from Applehood and Motherpie (1981), put out by the
  7. Junior League of Rochester, New York.  It is REALLY good, and
  8. embarrassingly easy to make.
  9.  
  10. 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  11. 1 large onion, chopped
  12. 2 28-ounce cans tomato sauce
  13. 1 15-ounce can red beans and sauce
  14. 1/2 cup canned corn
  15. 1/2 cup chopped celery
  16. 1 chopped green pepper
  17. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt (although I usually skip this ingredient)
  18. 1 teaspoon garlic
  19. 3 to 4 tablespoons chili powder
  20.  
  21. Brown ground beef and onion; drain excess fat.  Add remaining
  22. ingredients, and simmer for one hour.
  23.  
  24. Accompaniments:
  25. 1 pint sour cream
  26. 1 pound shredded sharp yellow cheese
  27. 1 head lettuce, shredded
  28. 1 large package tortilla chips
  29. 1 avocado, cubed
  30.  
  31. Place chili in tureen surrounded by accompaniments.  In individual
  32. bowls, layer a handful of corn chips, chili, then any or all
  33. accompaniments.

  35. Just a note:  this recipe book is a really good one, and worth having.
